As I write this, I have entered my third week of self-isolation, whilst the UK government implemented a nationwide lockdown today, for a provisionary period of three weeks.
Today was also the day I realised that any hopes of completing my original Live Project idea were no longer an option, and I hesitantly began work on my new brief - an exploration into the effect the Coronavirus has had on media and creative industries workers.
To describe this time as 'overwhelming' really is underselling how crazy things feel right now, waking up most mornings wondering, "How the hell am I supposed to complete a dissertation during a global pandemic?!".
This aim of my new Live Project is to analyse responses to the coronavirus pandemic, specifically those of media workers. As coronavirus continues to disrupt normal working patterns, payments, job roles and priorities. This project will investigate how media industries have been affected, how they are evolving to cope with economic problems and logistical issue they continue to face in these unprecedented times. I will identify themes which are being expressed online regarding the state of media work since the coronavirus outbreak began, whilst exploring how the has coronavirus outbreak affected theories of the media industries, work and innovation.
This blog marks a fresh start.
2 Months and counting - Live Project I'm coming for you!
